Ryan was a tremendous asset to the Limeport Bulls during his rookie campaign. He finished the regular season with a 1.11 ERA while striking out 23 batters. The 2006 season started with Walter throwing a no-hitter in his first action on the field. He also won Game 2 of the playoff semi-finals throwing a two hitter in Limeport's 11-2 win vs. Coplay.
Walter traveled to the New York Collegate Baseball League to pitch for the Watertown Wizards for part of the 2006 season.
Ryan had a sucessful career for Quakertown in the Bux-Mont Legion League. Ryan was named the League's Most Valuable Player for the 2005 season. He was the ace of the staff and starting centerfielder. He led his team deep into the playoffs before losing to eventual champs Nor-Gwyn.
Ryan was named to the first team all-star team as a pitcher as well as a centerfielder. He threw a no hitter against Warrington. He advanced all the way to the All-East Pennsylvania Legion All-Star team in 2005 as a pitcher.
Walter played baseball at Burlington County Community College in 2005. He hit .355 with 33 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. On the mound he had a 5-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio (71 innings pitched, 51 strikeouts, and 12 walks). He ranked 14th in NJCAA Division III in earned run average.
Walter was voted to the second teams of All- Region 19 and the Garden State Athletic Conference.
